Hi, my name is Shiree Bush-Giblin,
I’ve been a resident of Olympia Fields for 30 years. I Joined the Holiday Dinner Dance committee in 2006. I was elected for vice president of Maynegaite Homeowners Association in 2011. In 2012 I joined the Olympia Fields mayor golf committee under State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin, by doing that it brought revenue back to Maynegaite subdivision. In 2017 I formed a non-profit organization called The Olympia Fields Event Committee, it allowed us to continue to have the Annual Holiday Dinner Dance and The All-White Dinner Dance every year at the Olympia Fields Country Club. This non-profit organization helped raise revenue for: Good shepherd, Arcadia elementary school, hats and gloves to the volunteers for Wheels and Meals, and it allowed us to give a luncheon at the Rich Township Senior Center for the serious along with giving them movies tickets and hats and gloves. We also donate to Girls Evolving into Maturity Sister (GEMS). In 2018 I met with the Mayor Sterling M Burke to discuss an ordinance change; it allowed every homeowner in the Olympia Fields Village who wanted underground water sprinklers to be released from paying an extra $6500 to the Village Hall. Also, in 2018 I was voted in to be President of Maynegaite Homeowners Association. In this period my board ran a campaign to collect back dues. We were proud to collect $10,000 in 3 months. I retired from the board shortly after. In 2021 I joined The Democrat Women of the Southland Region (DWSR). Being in this organization allows me to share my voice and flight for our democracy.
I have raised my 6 kids here in Olympia Fields. All my kids attended Arcadia elementary school. The oldest three graduated from Rich Central High School (BKA) Rich Township High School. Two of them graduated from Florida A&M University. My three youngest went to Southland College Preparatory High School and one is still there as a senior. Two of them attend UIC.
I studied at Florida Memorial University, Prairie State College, and Westwood. I received a degree in Graphic Design applied with science, received license as a Medical Assistant and working on my BS in nursing.
I have worked on Congresswoman Robin Kelly, Judge Linzey Jones, State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin and the late Tim Bradford campaign committees.
My passion is helping others, giving back to my community. There is no stopping me now!
